Major Crops and Recommended Uses
- Mango: Breaks alternate-bearing tendencies, induces flowering, and assists in uniform post-harvest ripening (dip mature green fruits in a 1.5 ml to 2 ml per liter solution for 2–5 minutes).
- Tomato & Coffee: Synchronizes and accelerates uniform ripening on the plant for single-pass harvesting.
- Pineapple: Forces synchronized flower induction at the 30–37 leaf stage.
- Rubber: Stimulates and increases latex flow when applied to the bark tapping cut.
- Pomegranate: Used as a targeted defoliation agent to encourage better flowering and fruiting cycles.
Important Application Guidelines
- Maturity Requirement: Only apply to physiologically mature fruits; it will not properly ripen or “cook” immature green produce.
- No Tank Mixing: Avoid mixing Ethrel with alkaline products, lime, or other agrochemicals, as its acidic nature can cause severe crop burn or chemical breakdown.
- Plant Stress: Foliar application on field crops (like tomatoes) induces rapid leaf yellowing and senescence as part of the forced-ripening process
